Children in Need 2007

This is a special edition of the Alternative Kitchen Garden, in support of the BBC Children in Need Appeal that raises money for disadvantaged children.

I’m covering a topic that is popular with children (and big kids!) – planting pips and growing plants from seeds in fruit and vegetables that you have bought.

In the run up to the show I wrote several articles and blog posts on the same subject:

Growing peanuts
Planting an avocado stone
Grocery store pepper seeds
and a review of The Pip Book by Keith Mossman.

You can also keep up with how my Dragon fruit seedlings are getting along.

In the show I look at growing citrus trees from seed and which ones are most likely to bear edible fruit in the future, together with how to grow a pineapple top and which other exotic fruit seeds are worth growing.

If you would like to support the Children In Need appeal then you can make an online donation or send money via PayPal to paypalpudsey@bbc.co.uk

At the end of the show we hear a teaser for a new audio book written by a friend of mine – check out Tablerappers.com for more information.
