Cardboard Composter
Cardboard Composter

Cold weather is keeping gardeners indoors here in the UK at the moment, and winter can be a time for garden planning, armchair gardening or just dreaming up crazy ideas and experiments.

In previous years I have made cardboard chips for the floor of the Grow Dome, decided to use the Bokashi buckets to make comfrey liquid feed and tried planting Jerusalem artichokes in containers. I’ve also watched beans germinate.

They all worked out quite well! This year I’m trying out cardboard composters, bean boosters and sowing carrots in a cold frame for an early harvest.

If you enjoy garden design then take a look at the NS&I competition to design a kitchen garden for Gardeners’ World Live. And you can read more about my collaborative book project here.
