Free Seeds for Bees

Borage & bee

The BBC are encouraging bee conservation this year – by handing out free packs of wildflower seeds to kiddies. Sign up to get yours on the Blue Peter website. I do like the disclaimer that states the seed packets have been produced in a factory that uses nuts and are not for human consumption…!

Even if you don’t get free wildflower seeds, there’s plenty you can do to help the bees this year. There are herbs, fruits and vegetables that are all good food plants for bees, and you can make your own bee nesters and insect habitats. Have a look around the site for more bee friendly ideas.

And the BBC are going to be giving away free vegetable seeds next month for their Dig In initiative. Gardeners (young and old) all across the country will be encouraged to grow along with Gardeners’ World and the Green Balloon Club. There will be a special website, but it’s not live until 10th April.
