Welcome back, Jenny

I’m on holiday this week (‘staycationing’ at home) and doing as little as humanly possible, but outside in the garden the plants are doing a lot of work.
Throughout the winter I was slightly concerned that Jenny the kiwi was as dead as she looked. Then a few weeks ago I saw a kiwi in someone else’s polytunnel that looked just as lifeless. And yesterday I spotted that Jenny was growing new buds – so I won’t be missing out on the most beautiful plant ever.
In other news, some of the broad beans are sprouting. The first shoot appeared on 14th March, in the ‘boosted’ tub. By yesterday, it had 7 seeds germinating (out of 10). The ‘unboosted’ tub has none. I have moved them both outside onto the patio, where other tubs of broad beans (sown at the same time, all boosted and outside of the experiment) are also starting to sprout.

I’ve succumbed – our garden centre gives away a half price plant voucher each March, so Jenny came home with me yesterday :)
